Terms and Code of Practice
Last updated 3 November 2026
These terms explain how we handle enquiries, registration purchases and customer care. Please read them before placing an order. You can save this page or print it for your records.
Who you are dealing with
You are dealing with Auto Image Ltd through autoimage.uk. Auto Image Ltd is registered in England and Wales. Company number: 12861905. Registered office: Dobson House, Regent Centre, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 3PF. For enquiries, cancellations or complaints, email info@autoimage.uk or write to Auto Image Ltd, Ellison House, 2 Osborne Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 1AA.
Our website and correspondence are in English. We are an independent registration dealer; you are not purchasing directly from DVLA through this website.
What a registration purchase provides
A registration purchase provides the entitlement to assign the registration to an eligible vehicle, subject to DVLA's requirements. It does not include a vehicle. Physical acrylic number plates are not included unless expressly listed in your written quotation.
A registration must not make a vehicle appear newer than it is. Registration marks must be displayed using the correct characters, spacing and legal number plate specification. Please check that the mark is suitable for your vehicle before agreeing to buy it.
Enquiries and order acceptance
Website listings are invitations to enquire. Sending a form or an offer does not take payment, reserve a registration or complete a purchase. We check availability and confirm the details before accepting an order.
Before you commit, we will provide a written quotation or order summary setting out the registration, the total price and its breakdown, the service to be provided, payment arrangements, expected completion or delivery arrangements, and cancellation information. Please check the registration, purchaser and nominee details and tell us about any errors before proceeding.
A purchase contract is formed when we expressly confirm acceptance of your order in writing. An automated acknowledgement of an enquiry is not order acceptance. We will provide the agreed terms and order details by email so that you can retain them.
Where a registration is offered on behalf of another owner, we will explain our role and the seller details required for the transaction before you enter into an agreement.
Prices and payment
Your written order summary will separately show the registration selling price, the £80 DVLA assignment fee where payable, and any additional services or delivery charges. It will state the full amount payable. We will not charge for an optional extra without your agreement.
The £80 DVLA fee is distinct from any Auto Image administration charge. If a fee has already been paid and is included in the agreed price, it will not be charged again. Registrations which are Government Stock will be identified as such when offered.
Payment methods, payment dates and any deposit or balance arrangements will be confirmed before you agree to an order. Payment is not collected by our website enquiry forms. Never send card details through an enquiry form or by email.
If a price or availability error is found, we will tell you and ask whether you wish to proceed on the corrected terms. We will not substitute a different registration without your agreement. If we cannot supply an accepted registration, we will refund money paid for the unfulfilled purchase.
Assignment and documents
We will agree whether you wish to receive the relevant entitlement or retention documentation, or want assistance with assignment to a vehicle. Completion depends on the registration's status, suitable vehicle documentation and DVLA processing. We will give an expected timescale before accepting an order and keep you informed of material delays.
Supply accurate purchaser, registered keeper and nominee details and any documents reasonably needed to complete the agreed service. Do not fit or display the registration until DVLA has confirmed assignment. Keep V750 and V778 certificate details secure and do not publish photographs of them.
You remain responsible for keeping unassigned entitlement valid and renewing it before expiry, unless a separate renewal service has been expressly agreed.
Cancellations and refunds
You may withdraw an enquiry or offer before it is accepted without charge. After an order has been accepted, contact us promptly if you wish to cancel.
Where statutory cancellation rights apply to a consumer distance contract, you may cancel without giving a reason within the applicable 14-day period. For services, that period normally ends 14 days after the contract is made; for physical goods, it normally runs from receipt. We will explain the rights applicable to your particular order before you commit.
We will only start a service during a cancellation period at your express request. If you then cancel, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for services already supplied where the law permits and the required information has been provided. Any loss of the cancellation right following full performance of a service requires your prior express consent and acknowledgement. We do not treat merely submitting an enquiry as either consent or a waiver.
You can cancel by emailing or writing a clear statement to the contact details above. You may use the form below, but you do not have to. Where a statutory refund is due, we will make it within the applicable legal deadline, normally using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. Your statutory rights are not affected by these terms.

Our code of practice and complaints
We aim to describe registrations and services accurately, explain our charges clearly, treat customers fairly and protect their information. We will not knowingly promote illegal spacing or misrepresentation of registration marks.
If you have a concern, email info@autoimage.uk with your name, registration or order reference, a description of the problem and the resolution you are seeking. You can also write to the correspondence address above. A director will review the matter and respond in writing. If more time or information is needed, we will explain why and keep you updated.
If a dispute remains unresolved, we will explain the next steps and provide any alternative dispute resolution information required by law. Nothing in these terms removes your right to seek independent advice or use the courts.
